Amazon iOS App Launches International Shopping Experience
Amazon has announced this evening its iOS app (and Android) now allows for an international shopping experience. Essentially, the app can now show items which ship to Canada from international destinations in local currency.
New users who download the Amazon iOS app will automatically be set for this International Shopping experience.
Existing users just need to launch the Amazon iOS app, go to settings, choose ‘Country & Language’, then select ‘International Shopping’ in the country picker, as seen below:

You’ll be able to set your language and currency and can change your location anytime. But for Canadians, there is no option for currency in CAD, as only USD is the closest for us in the International Shopping option:

“We are always innovating on behalf of our customers, and with today’s launch, we are making the shopping experience on mobile devices even better and more convenient for our customers who live outside the US,” said Samir Kumar, VP of Amazon Exports and Expansion, in a statement.
“Customers have been asking for a way to easily find and shop only for products available to be shipped to them. The International Shopping experience solves this customer need and makes it simple to browse, shop and ship more than 45 million products to over a hundred countries around the world,” added Kumar.
Amazon says their International Shopping experience shows pricing, shipping costs and import duty estimates, to ensure there are no surprises.
Let us know if you’re going to give this a try. It will make it easier to sort out items that will ship to Canada, but with our current exchange rate and duties and such, you will be paying extra for this service. But sometimes, you have to take the plunge, #becauseonlineshopping.

Essentially, what this does is change your store to the US store. It doesn’t convert to CAD as mentioned, but also, it still shows items that can’t be shipped to Canada. Just playing around, I tried adding a Sonos One and when I started the checkout process, it gave the familiar “There’s a problem with one of the items in your cart. It can’t be shipped to the selected address”. Seems like maybe they still need to fine tune a bit.
When I first read the story, I thought maybe you would get items from all Amazon territories that ship to Canada in one place, now that would be awesome! I buy from Amazon UK more than the US. But this, in practice, is not much different than simply switching your country to US in the app.
Pointless article…clickbait at it’s finest
This is not a new news. However, there are one or two items will ship to Canada.
