Olixar’s iPhone SE 2 Render Suggests an iPhone X-Like Design

A presumptuous render of Apple’s next generation ‘iPhone SE 2’ by case maker Olixar (via MobileFun)obtained by the folks over at MacRumors, seems to expect an iPhone X-esque design. However, with a notch that is approximately half as wide as the one on the iPhone X, it seems a bit too small to house facial recognition sensors for Face ID.

The renders, which were reportedly “obtained from a reliable source” in China, also indicate that the new generation ‘iPhone SE 2’ will feature an edge to edge display similar to the iPhone X, without a physical home button. The display is however also by an aluminum shell with flat sides and chamfered edges, which looks similar to the iPhone 5s and the current iPhone SE.

Since the renders do not show the bottom or back of the device, it is not yet known whether will be a headphone jack or a glass rear shell for wireless charging.

With an alleged length of 4.7 inches and width of 2.1 inches, the new iPhone SE would be slightly smaller than the current model, remaining suitable for one-handed usage but with a larger display thanks to the fuller-screen design.

As expected, the device does appear to retain physical volume buttons and a mute switch on the side, and a physical power button on the top-right corner. The biggest question mark is how authentication would work, given the lack of a home button and the unlikeliness of Face ID.

While this rumour is certainly quite sketchy, Olixar is confident enough to already be accepting pre-orders for ‘iPhone SE 2’ screen protectors online.
