Bell Completes Acquisition of Alberta’s SuperNet Broadband Network
Bell today has announced its acquisition of Axia NetMedia Corporation has finalized, meaning the former now owns SuperNet, Alberta’s broadband network which brings connections to thousands of provincial and municipal offices, Indigenous communities and more.
“Bell welcomes the Axia team as we move forward together in executing our new multi-year SuperNet partnership with the Government of Alberta,” said Dan McKeen, Bell’s Vice Chair, Western Canada, in a statement. “The integration of Axia’s seasoned Alberta team with Bell’s national scale and established SuperNet assets across the province enables both the seamless delivery of SuperNet services and accelerated innovation opportunities for broadband users throughout Alberta.”
Bell will run SuperNet services, including the ownership of Axio network assets, which connect over 402 rural communities in Alberta, plus 27 urban areas already wired up through SuperNet by Bell.
According to Bell, Dan McKeen, Bell’s Vice Chair, Western Canada, and Ryan Klassen, in his newly created role of Vice President, Business Solutions and Axia Group, will head the new Bell-Axia team.
