SaskTel has announced maxTV Stream, its new television service which also includes built-in over-the-top content such as Netflix and YouTube, has expanded to 12 more communities in Saskatchewan.
Today’s expansion brings maxTV Stream to Abernethy, Balcarres, Fort Qu’Appelle, Katepwa, Lebret, Lemberg, Lipton, Air Ronge, La Ronge, Maryfield, Moosomin, and Wapella.
“SaskTel continues to deliver innovative products and services to the people of Saskatchewan with the rollout of maxTV Stream,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel, in an issued statement to iPhone in Canada. “maxTV Stream will provide Saskatchewan residents with a high quality and affordable television service that they can take on the go and watch anywhere in Canada.”
With maxTV Stream, customers have over 110 channels and thousands of video-on-demand (VOD) content. Users can restart live TV up to 72 hours in the past, watch live TV and VOD content from the maxTV mobile app, while also watch built-in apps such as Netflix, YouTube and CraveTV, all controlled from with a Bluetooth-powered remote with voice controls.
The crown corporation first launched maxTV Stream, their IPTV solution, back in August. The company is licensing the Ericsson MediaFirst solution, in a partnership signed last spring.
SaskTel says it plans to expand maxTV Stream to over 350 communities by 2020. The service starts at $19.95 per month when bundled with SaskTel Internet service and comes with 55 channels to start.
