Google Translate for iOS Now Understands French Canadian, Finally
Google Translate for iOS has been updated to expand its regional options for speech input and output, for a variety of languages.
This latest update brings speed input and output support for English (US, UK, Australia, & India), Bengali (Bangladesh & India), Spanish (Mexico & Spain) and French (France), with the latter including support for French Canadian.
To set your Google Translate speech region, update to the latest version of the app. Then open the app and click on Settings > Speech Region > select French (Canada).
There’s no regional selection under English for ‘Canada’, so we’re pretty sure Google Translate will still have difficulties with your ‘ehs’ and ‘aboots’.
Finally, all my fellow francophones in Quebec and beyond can be heard correctly by Google Translate. How do you say ‘give me a hell yeah’ en français? #Austin316
