12-inch MacBook Drops Rose Gold, Adopts New MacBook Air Gold

Apple unveiled a new 13.3-inch MacBook Air today, finally releasing a Retina display. The new laptop sports a thinner and smaller design, while includes new features such as Touch ID, a larger Force Touch trackpad and new third-generation butterfly keyboard.

But what about Apple’s other 12-inch MacBook, who has long had a Retina display? It hasn’t had any updates yet since June 2017, but today it gained a small one.

2018 12-inch macbook gold

Apple has dropped Rose Gold from the 12-inch MacBook, while on top of that, adopting the new gold colour from the 2018 MacBook Air.

While some products like the 10.5-inch iPad Pro saw a price drop, the 12-inch MacBook is still priced the same, starting at $1729 in Canada (8GB RAM, 256GB SSD), with older 7th generation Intel Core m3 processors.

The new entry MacBook Air with Retina display starts at $1499 in Canada, with 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD (128GB entry SSD in 2018 is like a 16GB iPhone of years’ past); it maxes out at $3239 CAD when you upgrade to 16GB RAM and a 1.5TB SSD to go with the 1.6GHz dual?core 8th?generation Intel Core i5 processor.
