How are you going to be shopping for the holidays? According to a recent survey by Ebates Canada, the majority of Canadians—83%—plan to do their shopping online this holiday season.

On average, Canadians are expected to spend on average of $602 this holiday season, with 84% of respondents noting they’ll spend the spend as much if not more this year, compared to 2017.

Parents are looking to spend $762, with those from the East Coast ready to shell out the most, with an anticipated spend of $734. About half of Canadians will take advantage of Black Friday to tackle one-third of their holiday list; 44% of Canadians plan to do their shopping during Cyber Monday.

“Canadians love to shop and many are really adopting Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a great opportunity to find deals and get a head start on their holiday shopping,” said Belinda Baugniet, VP of marketing and resident shopping expert at Ebates.ca, in a statement. “Our survey indicates that the most popular items they’ll be shopping for on these days are electronics, clothing and toys.”

Online shopping is leading the charge for Canadians, who cite convenience, online exclusives and better prices as benefits of skipping brick and mortar stores. Popular holiday online merchants include Amazon, Hudson’s Bay, Sephora and Best Buy.

Ebates.ca allows Canadians to earn cash back when shopping from a variety of online merchants. Click here to sign up if you don’t have an account already.
