Apple Just Leaked its Top-Secret Wearable in iOS 27 Beta

App designer and developer Sam Henri Gold has discovered some hidden files inside the second developer beta of iOS 27. As reported by MacRumors, the code references an unreleased hardware product that could change how we interact with the physical world.

The uncovered configuration files specifically point to a device codenamed ‘B790.’ According to the system strings, this mystery product is capable of processing and relaying two separate images captured from cameras positioned on either side of a user’s head.

While Apple has not commented on the discovery, the technical breakdown has immediately sparked intense speculation among the developer community. Gold suggested that the dual-camera architecture aligns perfectly with Apple’s long-rumoured augmented reality smart glasses. However, supply chain indicators point to another compelling alternative: a premium pair of camera-equipped earbuds, tentatively dubbed “AirPods Ultra.”

To contextualise the codename, Apple historically uses the letter ‘B’ followed by a three-digit sequence for its personal audio line. For example, the upcoming AirPods Pro 3 are internally designated as B788. This makes the B790 moniker a highly logical fit for a next-generation audio wearable.

The internal documentation explicitly reveals how the software handles everyday environments. The code states that the device can dynamically identify regional landmarks, read physical text, and identify known consumer goods. The system prompt documentation even cites the Eiffel Tower in Paris and a standard coffee mug as concrete operational examples.

While enthusiasts are eager to see this technology in action, we will have to wait a bit longer to see a finished retail package. Reliable industry reports indicate that both the smart glasses and the camera-enabled AirPods Ultra are slated for a commercial launch in late 2027.
