Apple Pay Cash Setup in Canada Continues to Tease with ‘Terms and Conditions’ Screen

Apple Pay Cash has been appearing in the Wallet app in Canada for a while now, as it was formerly available to iOS 12.2 beta testers and currently still remains for the final release.

For those following along, Apple Pay Cash is not available in Canada, but we continue to see the feature’s setup change here.

The latest offers a new ‘Terms and Conditions’ screen, which has never appeared before. All of the terms are U.S. related, detailing how Green Dot Bank in the United States handles the service for Americans. Check it out below:

Once you agree to these terms, you’re taken to the ‘Verify Your Identity’ step, which we’ve all seen before, asking for U.S. identity verification. This is where the fun usually stops.

Apple Pay Cash allows iPhone users to seamless send money to each other through iMessage, currently only available in the USA.

Yesterday, Apple announced Apple Card, its first foray into a consumer credit card, again only available in the U.S. at launch. The Apple Card is a MasterCard backed by Goldman Sachs, with the latter today hinting at a possible international rollout in the future.

Previous hints of an Apple Cash expansion outside the U.S. include a section noting ‘Apple Pay Cash Balance’ within Apple ID preferences for some Canadians, plus localized support pages for the feature.

In Canada, Interac e-Transfers–a service offered by our big banks–remain a dominant way to send money between two parties on mobile, but the steps involved still are too cumbersome.

With Apple News finally available in Canada with iOS 12.2 and macOS 10.14.4 after years of waiting, when will we see Apple Pay Cash here, if ever?
