Apple May Release New Music and Podcasts Apps for macOS Says Developer

Developer Steve Troughton-Smith has today claimed on Twitter that with the release of macOS 10.15, Apple might break up iTunes by announcing separate Music and Podcasts apps for Mac, MacRumors is reporting.

Based on newly discovered evidence, Troughton-Smith believes that Apple seems to be developing new UIKit-based Music, Podcasts, and Books apps for macOS, all three of which will join the TV app that Apple has already announced is in the works.

If true, the move would essentially break up the iTunes app for macOS, which currently hosts Podcasts, Movies, and TV Shows all together. Furthermore, an updated version of the Books app for macOS is also said to be in development.

Apple is expected to unveil macOS 10.15 and iOS 13 at its 2019 Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
