Public Mobile Dropped Calls Issue Still Being Fixed Says Telus [u]

Last week, Public Mobile customers were complaining about dropped calls on the company’s Telus network during peak usage times.

Public Mobile said it was investigating the matter at the time, while also addressing a service issue for customers who signed up under their $15 plan.

In an updated posted this morning at 9AM PDT/12 PM EDT, Public Mobile says they have now found the source of the dropped calls issue and applied a fix.

“We have identified the source of the technical issue causing select customers to experience dropped calls during peak hours. We’ve implemented a solution that we believe has resolved the dropped calls issues,” explained Public Mobile in their Community Forums.

The Telus prepaid brand adds, “we are monitoring and ask customers to reach out if you continue to experience any issues.”

The issue of dropped calls meant anyone trying to initiate a phone call, would immediately see their call get dropped, or even a call that was already connected (Update: this was the case in our testing on the network). This is a major inconvenience for those expecting important calls for either personal, school or work-related matters, for example.

“We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience. We will provide an update first thing tomorrow morning,” said Public Mobile.

Were you affected by this Public Mobile dropped calls issue? Or are you still experiencing them?

Update May 7, 2019: Public Mobile emailed iPhone in Canada the following statement:

Public Mobile has implemented a resolution to solve the dropped calls issue. However, we are continuing to monitor and ask customers to reach out if you continue to experience any issues. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.
