Public Mobile Expands Fast Switch Tool to Move Users to Telus

Public Mobile continues to push customers to parent company Telus and its postpaid plans through a new self-serve option called Fast Switch.

The new tool officially announced today allows eligible Public Mobile subscribers to migrate their accounts over to monthly postpaid plans with either Telus or Koodo in just a few minutes.

The online process removes the usual hurdles of switching companies, says Public Mobile. Phone numbers and stored payment methods carry over automatically, and any remaining balance on a Public Mobile account is applied as a bill credit on the new Telus or Koodo account.

Customers who make the jump will get a free postpaid eSIM (bonus!), and will also need an eSIM-compatible phone and an active Wi-Fi connection during the setup. Once the transfer completes, Public Mobile automatically closes your old account.

We’ve seen numerous aggressive Telus internet offers and Koodo wireless promo plans being pushed on Public Mobile customers lately, through text messages and email.

So why move to Telus? A postpaid plan brings faster 5G+ network speeds up to 2Gbps, home service bundle discounts, and loyalty rewards. But of course, standard credit checks apply for all subscribers moving to a monthly plan. That’s not needed with prepaid and Public Mobile at all.

Back in June, Fast Switch was launched to support Public Mobile customers switching over to Koodo, now two months later, it’s here for moving to Telus.

We recently saw Bell’s Virgin Plus announce it was ending its prepaid services, instead focusing on its postpaid customers. Could we eventually see more prepaid brands disappear to instead focus on postpaid?
