Apple has released a new AirPort Base Station Firmware Update, version 7.9.1. Apple says this update “improves the security of your base station”, but does not go into specifics:

Firmware update 7.9.1 improves the security of your base station and is recommended for all AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule base stations with 802.11ac.

Apple announced last April it was ending production of its legacy AirPort Base Station lineup.
