In general, smartphone CAD images are believed to be official designs leaked from production factories and often serve as references for case manufacturers. While the authenticity of these renders can’t be guaranteed, they do show some interesting details based on recent rumours and reports.

The images above show the alleged CAD renders for ‘iPhone XI’ and ‘iPhone XI Max,’ featuring triple-lens cameras on the rear. Both the 5.8 and 6.5-inch 2019 iPhone models are expected to feature OLED displays similar to the current generation iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

Interestingly, the alleged ‘iPhone XIR’ CAD shown above also shows the same square bump but for a dual-lens setup.

Some have also questioned why the successor to the iPhone XR would have a square bump for a dual-lens setup when a pill-shaped bump is used on the iPhone X, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max, although Apple may simply be adopting it to draw a distinction with previous models and maintain consistency across the new line-up.

Either way, the third camera on the next iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max is rumoured to be an ultra-wide-angle lens that enables a broader range of zoom, while the second lens on the next iPhone XR is expected to enable increased zoom as well.

As predicted by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the renders also show a Lightning port rather than the USB-C port Apple has adopted for its 2018 iPad Pro models.
