Super NES Games Launch on Nintendo Switch Online September 5 in Canada

During a Nintendo Direct video presentation today, the Japanese video game company announced Super NES games are launching on the Nintendo Switch Online service on September 5, 2019.

Anyone who is a member of the Nintendo Switch Online service will get to play the following 20 classic Super NES games for free:

  • Super Mario World
  • Super Mario Kart
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Super Metroid
  • Stunt Race FX (Available for the first time since its original Super NES release!)
  • Kirby’s Dream Land 3
  • Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
  • Star Fox
  • F-ZERO
  • Pilotwings
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • BRAWL BROTHERS
  • Breath of Fire
  • Demon’s Crest
  • Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics
  • SUPER E.D.F. EARTH DEFENSE FORCE
  • Super Ghouls’n Ghost
  • Super Puyo Puyo 2 (Available for the first time in the U.S.!)
  • Super Soccer (Available for the first time since its original Super NES release!)
  • Super Tennis (Available for the first time since its original Super NES release!)




“All of these Super NES games can be played with online functionality on Nintendo Switch Online, including multiplayer gameplay in select games and voice chat via the Nintendo Switch Online app,” explained Nintendo in a press release.

At launch, a Rewind feature which lets users play sections of games again will be available, along with suspend points during games. More Super NES games are coming in the future for active members of the Nintendo Switch Online service.

Nintendo will also launch a full-sized wireless Super Nintendo Entertainment System Controller, available as a special offer to Switch Online members, priced at $39.99 CAD each, with up to four controllers for purchase per Nintendo Account.

Nintendo Switch Online pricing places start at $4.99 CAD for a 1-month membership, $9.99 CAD for 3 months and $24.99 for 12 months. A family membership is available for 12 months at $44.99 CAD (up to 8 accounts). The service also offers a free 7-day trial to the service.
