TD Canada for iOS and Android has been updated to bring new credit card blocking features for customers, bringing controls from the company’s mobile apps.
All TD Visa consumer credit cards can now be locked or unlocked via the TD Canada mobile app, while a “first-in-Canada” feature also lets TD customers temporarily block Canadian credit cards from in-person international charges as well.
“Card controls can help our customers feel confident that their credit cards won’t be misused, while also minimizing the inconvenience of cancelling or replacing a card if it’s temporarily misplaced,” says Katy Boshart, SVP, Canadian Credit Cards, TD, in a statement. “In addition, our new international block feature provides even greater security – giving TD credit card holders the ability to prevent unauthorized access to their card at international, in-person points of sale, providing additional peace of mind.”
When a credit card is locked, new purchases cannot be made with physical cards or digital wallets, however, pre-authorized payments and charges will still proceed. By being able to instantly lock a credit card via the TD mobile app, it allows customers to bypass calling customer service to report their card lost or stolen.
