Lyft to Offer Free Rides to Breast Cancer Patients in Toronto, Ottawa
Lyft has today announced its partnership with Rethink Breast Cancer for the Breast Cancer Awareness Month to offer free rides to breast cancer patients in Toronto and Ottawa. From October 1-31, Rethink Breast Cancer will provide free rides up to $12 each to the patients to and from breast cancer appointments.
Recent data shows there are 3.6 million missed healthcare appointments in the U.S. every year due to lack of transportation. “Transportation should never be a barrier when it comes to healthcare,” says Lyft.
The ride-hailing company has long partnered with healthcare organizations across the U.S. to provide non-emergency medical transportation. According to the 2019 Economic Impact Report, 33% of riders have used Lyft to access healthcare services in Toronto.
At Lyft, we believe that transportation should never be a barrier to accessing healthcare,” said Hannah Parish, GM for Lyft in Ontario. “That’s why this October, we’re partnering with Rethink Breast Cancer to help provide access to breast cancer screenings across Toronto and Ottawa to ensure that our communities have access to quality healthcare.”
