Rogers and Ireland-based Cubic Telecom have announced a partnership to bring a connected car solution to Canadian automobiles.

Cubic Telecom’s PACE platform (Platform for Application and Connectivity Enablement) and connected car solution will be offered via the Rogers wireless network for automakers. Customers will see the solution offer “navigation, real-time route mapping, streaming music and video and local content for Canadians,” available in both Canada and the United States, according to a press release.

“We chose to partner with Cubic Telecom based on its proven robust solution and reputation as a leading connectivity provider to the automotive marketplace. Rogers for Business is focused on developing strategic partnerships to drive innovation and enable businesses in the auto industry to transform their customer experience and bring new services to market,” said Dean Prevost, President, Rogers for Business, in an issued statement.

The PACE platform is able to integrate into numerous original equipment manufacturer (OEM) IT systems and mobile operator platforms. The offering aims to bring in-car navigation plus streaming of music and video for cars across Canada and the U.S., with the first connected vehicles to hit Canadian roads in early 2020.

“OEMs will soon be able to provide Canadians the opportunity to interact with local content in real-time wherever they travel. We are excited about expanding our PACE automotive solution and industry-first connected car capabilities into Canada in partnership with Rogers,” said Barry Napier, Cubic Telecom CEO, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.

As of last month, Cubic Telecom says it helps connect over 2.5 million cars in over 70 countries on 75 networks.
