Apple’s HomePod 13.2 Update Brings Multiple User Support, Handoff and More [u]

Update: Apple has pulled this update as it has resulted in HomePods being bricked by some users. Our HomePod is working fine after installing this update.

Along with today’s release of iOS 13.2, iPadOS 13.2 and tvOS 13.2, Apple also released a HomePod 13.2 software update.

Apple says this update brings “the ability for HomePod to recognize the voices of different family members to provide a personalized experience.”

Also new is Handoff support for music, podcasts or phone calls—just by bringing your iPhone near your HomePod.

For your HomeKit scenes, you can now add music, while Apple says you can “play relaxing high-quality soundtracks with Ambient Sounds,” while also “set sleep timers to fall asleep to music or Ambient Sounds.”

The software update comes in at 975.2 MB. You can download it by launching the Home app on iPhone or iPad, tapping the Home icon in the upper left, scrolling down to Software Update, then clicking Install.

Apple’s HomePod costs a hefty $399 in Canada, available in Space Grey or White.
