Uber Selects YWCA Canada for its Community Impact Initiative

YWCA Canada has today announced that its member associations in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, and Montreal have been selected by Uber as recipients of its Community Impact Initiative (CII), allowing YWCA members to receive Uber rides to and from job interviews, housing and medical appointments, and training opportunities.

This year, Uber has partnered with several nonprofits to support communities and help create opportunities for all. Its CII recipients this year are comprised of organizations from many areas, including women’s equality and gender-based violence, that are providing access to health and job opportunities.

Uber and YWCA Canada had announced earlier this year that they were joining forces to provide resources and training to support programs and services across Canada.

“We are honoured to continue collaborating and supporting YWCA Canada’s meaningful work that strengthens communities by creating opportunities for women and gender diverse people,” said Matthew Price, General Manager, Uber Canada. “We believe transportation has the power to transform every life and should not serve as an obstacle that prevents someone from achieving their goals.”

YWCA Canada is one of more than 70 local nonprofits receiving support through Uber’s initiative. Organizations interested in participating can get more information at this link.
