CATSA App Lets You ‘Breeze Through Security’ at Canadian Airports

A mobile app by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) called ‘Breeze Through Security’ provides information for air travellers in Canada to make it easier to get through airport security screening. The app also provides travellers with security wait times for 14 Canadian airports.

“You can enter the name of the item you’re planning to travel with, for example, cannabis, and you get the list here telling you that you’re allowed the legal limit if you fly domestically and then it tells you also not to cross international borders with it,” Christine Langlois, a spokesperson for CATSA told CTVNews.

The app has a searchable database that includes everything from deodorant to slingshots. A complete description of quantities, restrictions, and exceptions for specific items are all listed within the app.

  • Check wait times at security screening checkpoints at major Canadian airports.

  • Search which items belong in your carry-on or checked bag.

  • Find information for families and passengers with special needs about getting through airport security screening quickly and easily.

  • Create a travel checklist to help you pack your carry-on or checked bag. Find out about security restrictions on various items.

  • Provide feedback about your experience at security screening.

This app is available in English and French. You may choose your language upon opening the app and switch it at any time using the in-app Settings feature.

The CATSA app is available as a free download for iOS and Android.
