Apple has launched a replacement program for Smart Battery Cases made for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR.

According to Apple, some cases for these iPhones “may experience charging issues.” Specifically, Apple says cases “will not charge or charges intermittently when plugged into power” or “does not charge the iPhone or charges it intermittently”.

The defective units were made between January 2019 and October 2019. Apple clarifies “this is not a safety issue” and replacements will be made free of charge from Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

These Smart Battery Cases for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR launched last year on January 15, 2019, priced at $179 CAD each.
