A week after the announcement that Xbox Console Streaming (Preview) was expanding to all Xbox One supported countries, Microsoft has now revealed that the Xbox cloud-streaming service, Project xCloud, will be available in Canada next week.
During Microsoft’s X019 celebration, Phil Spencer told audiences that the Project xCloud preview would be available in the US, UK, and South Korea. Now, Canada is joining the fold. In a blog post, Microsoft confirmed that registration for the Project xCloud preview in Canada is now open and the service will go live on Thursday, January 29th.
As this will be a closed preview, only those selected through the registration process will be able to take advantage of the service for the time being. However, Microsoft does intend to invite more players into the preview over time.
Project xCloud is a free supplemental addition to the Xbox One ecosystem. Utilizing the cloud, players will choose from a selection of game titles and play on the mobile devices of their choice. As of now, Project xCloud is being previewed on a number of eligible Android phones and tablets. Once successfully registered and invited to join the preview, players can access the service via the Xbox Game Streaming (Preview) app on the Google Play Store.
Preview participants in Canada will be given access to the same catalogue of first-party games as the US and UK, including Gears 5 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Additionally, Project xCloud will support a list of third-party titles including Destiny 2, Tekken 7, Devil May Cry 5, and Civilization VI.”
Microsoft also has plans to expand Project xCloud into India, Japan, and Western Europe at a later time in 2020.
