Apple to Reopen Beijing Retail Locations February 14 With Limited Hours

Apple’s Beijing stores will reopen with limited hours on February 14, the company said on its website, as many of its other stores in mainland China remain shut as the country continues to battle the coronavirus outbreak.

According to the Cupertino company’s website, all five Beijing stores, Sanlitun, Apple Mall China, Chaoyang Joy City, Wangfujing, and Xidan Joy city will reopen February 14 between 11am and 6pm local time.

Many of the company’s other stores in mainland China will remain closed, however, as the country works to get the coronavirus pandemic under control.

On Apple China’s website, a notice alerts visitors that their local Apple retail locations may still be closed, directing visitors to check their local Apple Store’s retail page to confirm operating hours. It also instructs them to wear a mask and check their temperature before entering.



The development comes as the coronavirus outbreak — declared a global health emergency by the World Health Organization — threatens to disrupt Chinese manufacturing and force policymakers to ready measures to stabilize the economy.

The Wuhan coronavirus has disrupted several tech industry sectors, from canceled conferences, to delayed shipments, to the unprecedented cancellation of this year’s MWC.

With many retail stores in China closed for an extended period and production delays, research firm Canalys expects that that country’s smartphone market will see shipments halve in the first quarter compared to one year ago.
