New Google Pixel Features Launch in Canada: Music Controls, Emoji and More

After launching new Pixel features in December, Google has announced more features have arrived for owners of its Pixel smartphones.

Here are the new features below according to Google Canada:

  • Motion Sense: Pixel 4 can now use a tapping gesture above the phone to pause/resume music
  • Duo: new effects for video calls allow you to change expressions
  • Power button: press and hold for quick access to Google Pay and swipe through cards (available for US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Taiwan and Singapore)
  • Dark theme: can now be scheduled for sunrise and sunset; can help save battery
  • Selfies: front-facing camera on Pixel 4 “can now create images with depth, which improves Portrait Blur and colour pop, and lets you create 3D photos for Facebook.”
  • Emoji 12.1 Update: 169 new emoji
  • Boarding passes: take a screenshot of a boarding pass and option to add to Google Pay (Pixel 3, 3a, 4)

For Pixel 2 owners, they now can get Live Caption, which automatically captions media playing on your smartphone.

Pixel 4 owners also get improved long-press options, which are now faster, while Adaptive brightness will now “temporarily increases screen brightness to make reading content easier when in extremely bright ambient lighting, like direct sunlight.”

Google also says, “you can now set up a rule to automatically silence your ringtone when you connect to your office WiFi, or go on Do Not Disturb when you walk in the front door of your house to focus on the people and things that matter most.”
