Google Home for iOS to Rolling Out Nest Cam Events in Home Feed and More

Google home ios update

The Google Home iOS app is rolling out new features soon for Nest Cam users and also those with smart lights in the home.

According to an update for the app released on March 12, Google says over the “next two weeks” they will be bringing “improved support for quickly turning your lights on and off from the Lights quick action.”

For those with Nest Cams, you will soon be able to see your recent camera events in the Feed tab. This tab “highlights important activity from supported devices for you and other home members,” and now includes Nest Cam events. We can confirm we are seeing Nest Cam events in Canada within the Feed tab.

Google is set to launch new Nest Aware plans in “early 2020”, which will bring pricing per home instead of paying per camera, starting at $8 CAD/month per home. This latest update to the Google Home app may be a hint the new Nest Aware plans are coming soon.

The Google Home app is used to manage and setup your Google Home, Google Nest and Chromecast devices, plus other support smart devices in one app. Those with Nest Wifi will use the Google Home app to setup their home mesh networks instead of the older Google Wifi app.
