Sun Life Group Benefits Can Now Get Free Virtual Health Care on iOS and Android

Sun Life has announced today it is rolling out free virtual health care for Group Benefits Clients with an Extended Health Care (EHC) benefit, thanks to a partnership with Dialogue.

This means Lumino Health Virtual Care—a product of Sun Life—will be available free of charge “for an initial period” to support clients during the COVID-19 pandemic, and connect directly with a health care professional.

Clients will be able to access virtual health services through the Dialogue Health iOS and Android apps and on the web.

“Today, more than ever, our Clients need us,” said Jacques Goulet, President, Sun Life Canada, in a statement to iPhone in Canada. “Our country is in the middle of a health crisis. Offering free virtual health care services to our Clients will hopefully relieve some of their stress, support social distancing efforts across the country and alleviate some of the load on Canada’s emergency health care system. We are offering this service free of charge because it is the right thing to do,” Goulet added.

The Lumino Health Virtual Care service will triage a client either through a mobile app or online, bringing direct access to a care manager, nurse or physician. Available services include “acute physical and mental health care, similar to medical services provided at a primary care clinic.”

Clients will have symptoms reviewed, get an assessment and care plan, prescriptions and referrals to specialists or in-person care if required.

Lumino Health also brings access to health care professionals such as a psychologist, physiotherapist and other paramedical providers, virtually, in a separate partnership with OnCall Health.
