Telus Fixes Wireless Outage in Western Canada, Blamed on ‘Equipment Failure’

Telus we re working on it

Earlier this morning, Telus customers in Western Canada were suffering from a wireless service outage, dealing with no signals. Telus has announced the issue has since been fixed.

Numerous Telus customers in Alberta were dealing with no wireless service around 8am PDT, with reports of no signals for Telus and Koodo customers from Edmonton to Calgary.

The City of Calgary stated some Telus cellphone customers were unable to call 911:

Telus reported at 10AM PDT its team fixed the issue within an hour, which was blamed on “equipment failure”.

“Earlier, we experienced an equipment failure that caused service disruptions in parts of Western Canada. Our team quickly identified the outage & restored services within an hour. We know how critical connectivity is for our customers and we apologize for the service interruption,” said Telus.

As of writing, there’s still an “intermittent voice network degradation” in the Lake Saint Martin area, affecting voice calling for mobile users and also home phone.
