Twitter Canada Celebrates Indigenous History Month 2020 with New Emoji

Celebrating National Indigenous History Month (#IndigenousHistoryMonth) each June on Twitter is an important tribute to the heritage and diversity of First Nation, Inuit, and Métis communities across Canada. Each year, Twitter partners with an Indigenous artist to design the official #IndigenousHistoryMonth emoji.

To mark the occasion this year, Twitter has partnered with Aija Komangapik (@AKomangapik), an Inuit multimedia artist who specializes in digital design and illustration, to design the official #IndigenousHistoryMonth 2020 Twitter emoji.

Aijak is currently a student at Bishop’s University in Lennoxville, Quebec, studying arts administration. Last year, she won first prize for her digital artwork “Drumdancer” in the Indigenous Arts & Stories contest, presented by Historica Canada (@HistoricaCanada).

Today marks the start of #IndigenousHistoryMonth.

This month use these hashtags to add our custom snow goggles emoji, celebrating Inuit heritage, to your Tweet.
