Back in June, Sobeys launched its Voila app for iOS and Android, allowing customers to order groceries in the Municipality of Vaughan, in the Greater Toronto Area.

Earlier this week, Sobeys expanded its Voila grocery delivery service in the GTA to now service Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga.

Voila grocery orders are packed by robots at the Sobeys warehouse in Vaughan, Ontario, using artificial intelligence and powered by technology from the Ocado Group.

“Voilà by Sobeys is the future of online grocery retail in Canada, and now it’s here,” said Michael Medline, President and CEO of Empire, in a statement last month. “Ocado’s technology gives us the best e-commerce platform in the country – there’s nothing like it in North America. We can’t wait to share Voilà with our customers in the GTA this summer and across Canada in the future.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, demand for online grocery orders has soared as most people avoid grocery stores. Sobeys says it has already hired more staff to accommodate for the increased demand of its online grocery service.

Customers ordering with the Voila app can also get products from Farm Boy and Well.ca as well. The Voila grocery service has a $7.99 delivery fee on a minimum $50 order.
