Telus Employees to Keep Working From Home Until 2021

Telus employees currently working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic will continue to do so—until 2021.

An internal Telus memo seen by Bloomberg News reads, “We have made the decision to continue with our current working arrangements — with the vast majority of our team members working productively from home until 2021,”

The memo adds, “We will revisit this policy towards the end of December and early January.”

Other major companies in Canada have similarly announced a work from home policy leading into 2021. Big banks such as RBC, TD and Scotiabank also announced for its employees to keep working from home into next year.

Telus Q2 Earnings See Sharp Decline in Net Income

Earlier today, Telus released its second quarter results, seeing $3.7 billion in revenue, an increase of 3.6%, with net income of $315 million, seeing a sharp 39% decline year on year, due to COVID-19.

“Alongside the incredible innovations we are driving in response to the current crisis, and the tuition value gleaned over the past several months, our strong performance will support the ongoing evolution of our operating model and resiliency of our organization, ensuring we are strongly positioned for anticipated post-pandemic economic challenges and market opportunities,” said Darren Entwistle, President and CEO, in a statement.

Telus saw 141,000 net additions for wireless, while wireline revenue saw a 17.5% increase.
