Earlier this week Global TV launched a new app for iOS users, gaining a “refreshed look and feel”, while also gaining improved performance and adding more content.

The Global TV app reached version 5.0 on Wednesday, and the update also added Split View support for Apple iPad users, allowing for “ultimate multi-tasking”, explains Global.

Apple says with Split View, you can “open two different apps, or two windows from the same app, by splitting the screen into resizable views. For example, open Messages and Maps at the same time in Split View. Or open two Messages windows in Split View and manage two conversations at the same time.”

Global TV for iOS allows cable TV subscribers to access live TV and on-demand from networks such as Global, HGTV, Food Network, W Network, Slice, Showcase, History, National Geographic and Adult Swim.

Back in February, Global TV for iOS added free 24/7 Global News local and national news streams from across Canada.

For Canadian Amazon Prime subscribers, they can access 12 live TV networks and on-demand content from Corus via the latter’s STACKTV offering, which costs $12.99 per month, geared towards cord-cutters.
