Tim Hortons, Starbucks Offering Freebies for National Coffee Day with Mobile Orders

Tim hortons free coffee day

September 29 is National Coffee Day and companies have been quick to seize the moment to encourage spending from coffee drinkers.

Tim Hortons is offering up free coffee today only (excluding espresso-based beverages), when you add a drink to your mobile order via the Tim Rewards app. You need to spend at least $0.50 to qualify for a free coffee. The fine print says the offer is limited to one per eligible purchase per person per thirty minute period. You may not want to get another after tasting your first Tim Hortons coffee, however (jokes!).

Starbucks coffee day

As for Starbucks, on National Coffee Day, if you order via the mobile app, you can get a free bakery item for your next visit.

“Use the app to order ahead any handcrafted beverage (grande or larger), and we’ll send a free bakery item to your account for your next visit,” explains Starbucks in an email to customers.

The promo does not apply for hot brewed coffee or tea or Starbucks Reserve beverages. The free bakery item will be sent to your Starbucks Reward account as a coupon and valid until October 6, 2020. The free bakery item “excludes breakfast sandwiches, ham and cheese croissant, packaged and multi-serve food items,” says the fine print. Oh, and this offer is not available in Quebec.

For McDonald’s, the mobile app has some buy one get one (BOGO) offers for breakfast sandwiches and donuts, but we’re not seeing anything for free coffee (although teachers can get free coffee on October 5, 2020).

Update: Krispy Kreme Canada is offering free coffee today as well.
