Apple Glasses May Allow Automatically Unlocking of All Apple Devices
Just like you can use an Apple Watch to unlock your Mac, a new Apple patent granted today by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) suggests that the upcoming Apple Glasses may automatically unlock all your Apple devices, 9to5Mac is reporting.
Apple notes in the patent how unlocking each device individually can be slightly annoying when you are using several of them. However, “an authenticated device that is worn by a user as a head-mounted device” could make the whole process much simpler, notes Apple most likely referring to the Apple Glasses.
Using proximity sensors, the Apple accessory will be able to automatically unlock other Apple devices when they come into close range.
“The authenticated device is operable to detect the proximate device, to determine an intent of the user to access the restricted-access function of the proximate device while the proximate device is in the locked state, and to emit authentication data. Based on the authentication data, the proximate device identifies the user as an authenticated user and enters the unlocked state from the locked state.”
The patent, granted this morning, was originally filed by Apple in April 2019.
