Popular messaging app Telegram, which has gained over 100 million new users in January alone amid WhatsApp’s controversial new privacy policies, has just rolled out a new migration tool for importing chat history from other messaging apps like WhatsApp, Line, and KakaoTalk.
Starting today, Telegram users can bring their chat history from popular messaging apps, complete with videos and documents. The import works both for individual chats and groups.
To import your WhatsApp chats to Telegram, here’s what you need to do:
To move a chat from WhatsApp on iOS, open the Contact Info or Group Info page in WhatsApp, tap Export Chat, then choose Telegram in the Share menu.
On Android, open a WhatsApp chat, tap ⋮ > More > Export Chat, then choose Telegram in the Share menu:
Messages will be imported into the current day but will also include their original timestamps. All members of the chat on Telegram will see the messages.
You can get more information about importing your chats to Telegram at this link.
