Rogers High-Speed Internet Coming to Waterford, Ontario

Rogers

Rogers is moving ahead with its plans to bring high-speed internet to over 2,100 homes and businesses in the Waterford area of Ontario, as part of the South-Western Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT) initiative, the Goderich Signal Star is reporting.

“This announcement marks yet another milestone for SWIFT and our partners as we continue to expand broadband infrastructure throughout Norfolk County and across south-western Ontario,” said SWIFT executive director Barry Field, noting about 5,200 residents will benefit from the broadband internet launch.

This latest Rogers project is unrelated to the carrier’s recent bid to service 9,100 rural properties in Norfolk under the federal government’s $1.75-billion Unified Broadband Fund (UBF).

There are areas excluded from this internet launch, however, such as Bills Corners.

“We are hoping to extend our services to more residents and businesses in Norfolk County, including Bills Corners,” explained Rogers spokesperson Zac Carreiro, when asked about the missing coverage.

The project will make its debut in more than 200 locations in the Wilsonville and Dundurn communities over the next few months.
