Alleged Image of Upcoming Re-designed ‘Apple Pencil 3’ Leaked Online
Apple leaker Mr. White has today shared an alleged image of the upcoming ‘Apple Pencil 3’ on Twitter, showing an updated tip design and a glossy finish (via MacRumors).
The upcoming third-generation Apple Pencil will supposedly have a similar design as the current, second-generation Apple Pencil, with support for charging inductively on the side of an iPad. Instead of a matte finish, however, it features a glossy finish just like the first-generation Apple Pencil.
The other notable difference is the Apple Pencil’s tip as compared to the first and second-generation Apple Pencils, which have small, replaceable, screw-on tips.
This updated model seems to have a considerably larger tip component, with a much longer section that screws into the Apple Pencil itself. It is unclear why a new version of the Apple Pencil may have a redesigned tip, but it is likely indicative of internal design changes.
The redesigned head may signal that new functionality is coming to the Apple Pencil’s tip.
It is not yet known whether a rumoured black version of the Apple Pencil will also release when Apple announces this year’s updated iPad Pro models.
