Apple has told TechCrunch it has discontinued the original HomePod, to rather instead focus on the HomePod mini instead:

HomePod mini has been a hit since its debut last fall, offering customers amazing sound, an intelligent assistant, and smart home control all for just $99. We are focusing our efforts on HomePod mini. We are discontinuing the original HomePod, it will continue to be available while supplies last through the Apple Online Store, Apple Retail Stores, and Apple Authorized Resellers. Apple will provide HomePod customers with software updates and service and support through Apple Care.

This isn’t really surprising given the high cost of Apple’s HomePod and the lack of recent hardware updates, despite debuting four years ago. Read our HomePod review here.

Apple.ca still lists the HomePod in white for $399 CAD, while Space Grey is sold out. While the HomePod is indeed an excellent speaker in terms of acoustics and bass, it’s still overpriced and Siri remains terrible. You’re better off with a pair of Amazon Echo Studio speakers.
