New Google ‘Wireless Streaming Device’ Passes FCC, Potentially New Nest Cam
Google is working on a new mystery “wireless streaming device,” according to a new FCC listing.

According to a new report from 9to5Google, the FCC filing shows off a device under model number G3AL9 that is referred to as “Wireless Streaming Device.” It doesn’t appear to have a display, since the FCC ID will be placed on the back of the device, rather than virtually as an e-label.
The device was tested for Bluetooth LE and 2.4/5GHz WiFi (802.11n), and that’s mostly it. The FCC docs call it a “mobile device” and tested its RF exposure to ensure that the public isn’t exposed to “energy levels in excess of the Commission’s guideline.”
The device is powered through a 3.65V rechargeable battery or a 5V direct AC/DC input, which could point to a portable, self-powered streaming device with a battery backup.
Google has previously promised that it was going to release a new lineup of security cameras this year, which suggests that this new device could be a new Nest Cam. Considering both the Nest Cam IQ Outdoor and Cam IQ Indoor went out of stock at the beginning of this year, a new version could be coming soon.
FCC confidentiality on this device ends on September 24th, 2021, which indicates that a new Google Nest Cam could be launching towards the middle or end of this year.
