TSMC to Begin Mass Production of A15 Chip for ‘iPhone 13’ Next Month [DigiTimes]
According to a new report by DigiTimes, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will begin mass production of Apple’s next-generation A15 chip for its upcoming ‘iPhone 13’ in the second half of May, MacRumors is reporting.
While the Taiwanese publication has not provided any more details, the A15 chip SoC will offer improved performance and power efficiency and will be based on an enhanced version of the 5nm process, which made its debut in the A14 Bionic with the 2020 iPad Air and iPhone 12 lineup.
Regarding the ‘iPhone 13’ lineup, Apple is expected to include a ProMotion 120Hz and always-on-display for at least some iPhone 13 models. Moreover, reports suggest that Apple will relocate the earpiece to the top bezel, which will result in a smaller notch.
Unlike iPhone 12, which saw a delayed launch in October due to the COVID-19 pandemic, veteran Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple is currently on track to release the ‘iPhone 13’ in September.
