Telus announced on Thursday it will be investing $8 million to expand 5G and PureFibre networks in Quebec in 2021, specifically Minganie and the North Shore.
The investment will expand 5G networks to 10 communities in the North Shore region, while the PureFibre network will reach Havre-Saint-Pierre.
The project will see $3 million from the federal government and Quebec to continue expanding PureFibre and wireless networks by September 2022, for Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan, Mingan (Ekuanitshit ) and Port-Menier to close to 2,500 homes and businesses.
“Our 75 team members in the North Shore region are committed to actively continuing the deployment of our networks across Quebec, and to driving the economic recovery of our regions. We are making the future friendly by putting our technology at the service of our communities,” said Marie-Christine D’Amours, Vice-President of TELUS, Consumer Solutions and Customer Experience for Quebec, in a statement.
Telus says its 4G LTE network will expand by adding new sites in Mingan (Ekuanitshit) and Port-Menier in 2022.
The company’s 5G network will reach 157 additional Quebec communities by year-end, including Baie-Comeau and Sept-Îles.
