According to a memo sent out by Apple CEO Tim Cook on Wednesday, employees are being asked to return to work in the office starting in September, reports The Verge.
“For all that we’ve been able to achieve while many of us have been separated, the truth is that there has been something essential missing from this past year: each other,” said Cook. “Video conference calling has narrowed the distance between us, to be sure, but there are things it simply cannot replicate.”
The memo says returning to the office will apply on Monday, Tuesdays and Thursdays, while remote work will be an option for Wednesdays and Fridays. Those that work with in-person teams will return 4-5 days of the week.
Remote work will be available for up to two weeks each year, said the Cook memo, with managers requiring approval of remote work requests.
The Apple CEO also encouraged employees to get vaccinated as well.
“For now, let me simply say that I look forward to seeing your faces,” wrote Cook. “I know I’m not alone in missing the hum of activity, the energy, creativity and collaboration of our in-person meetings and the sense of community we’ve all built.”

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman corroborated the memo from Cook, who also noted all remaining closed Apple Stores will be re-opening in June.
