Spotify’s “Reserved” Ticketing Presale Program Launches in Canada

Spotify is launching its exclusive “Reserved by Spotify” ticketing feature in Canada. Marking the first international expansion outside of the U.S., the initiative gives dedicated music fans direct access to concert tickets before they ever hit general public sales.

Two glowing red tickets labeled 'Reserved' with a Spotify-style logo and the subtitle 'Tickets saved for real fans'.

The feature works by using streaming intelligence to bypass traditional presale chaos. Rather than forcing every fan to enter a chaotic public presale lottery, Spotify tracks listening habits to identify an artist’s most devoted audience members.

The platform looks at an array of metrics, including how often you stream an artist, save their tracks, share their music, and where you are located.

For eligible Spotify Premium subscribers who are 18 and older, the perk unlocks a streamlined purchasing process. Selected fans will see a personalized banner pop up right on their Spotify Home screen. From there, users can browse available tour dates, review the specific window allocated for their account, and set reminders so they do not miss out. Once the reservation window opens, selected listeners can purchase up to two tickets.

What makes the Reserved system unique compared to standard presales is how the inventory is held. Instead of thousands of users competing simultaneously in a virtual waiting room the second sales open, Spotify holds a dedicated allocation of tickets specifically for targeted listeners during a set timeframe, which typically lasts around 24 hours.

Canadian music lovers do not have to wait long to see the system in action. The feature is launching immediately alongside upcoming tour dates for the Jonas Brothers. Top Jonas Brothers listeners in Canada will begin receiving app notifications today, August 17, giving them an exclusive window to secure their tour tickets starting Tuesday, August 18, prior to the general public release.

Spotify has confirmed that a broader slate of additional artist tours will roll into the program over time.
