iOS 15 Weather App Update Brings Air Quality Maps to Canada, Plus More

Apple’s iOS 15 update will bring changes to the Weather app, including full-screen weather maps for precipitation, air quality and temperature, depending on region and device.
New animated precipitation maps will show the path of a storm and also the intensity of rain and snow, while air quality and temperature maps will show appropriate colours based on the conditions near you.
Air quality maps will be available in Canada, along with the China mainland, Germany, France, India, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, South Korea, Spain, UK, and U.S.

While Canada will get air quality maps, new next-hour precipitation notifications for rain, snow, hail or sleet are only available in the U.S., Ireland and the UK.
Weather will also get a new design and layout with an updated 10-day forecast and new weather data graphs.

Also new are “thousands of variations of animated backgrounds that more accurately represent the sun position, clouds, and precipitation.”

However, these animated background features are only available for iPhones with an A12 Bionic chip or later, meaning an iPhone XS or newer.
