Samsung Announces Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Watch 4, and Galaxy Buds 2 at Unpacked Event

Samsung has unveiled its new lineup of devices during the latest Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event. During the virtual showcase, Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, and Galaxy Buds 2.

Today, Samsung held another digital Unpacked event, where it went on to showcase new and exciting devices that have been developed. The company went on to reveal its new leading foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are said to be the most advanced foldable from Samsung and are designed for productivity and a top-notch viewing experience. Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will see Samsung’s S-Pen being supported on the foldable side for the very first time. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 offer a water resistance rating of IPX8. The foldable’s design is also made of armour aluminum and Gorilla Glass Victus. Additionally, a new protective film layer on the main screens adds 80 percent more durability to the screen. Both will run off Snapdragon 888 5G.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 measures in at 158.2mm x 67.1mm x 16mm, with a 6.2-inch display. It shares the same screen size as the Z Fold 2 while providing a thinner, more compact body. Once opened, the display then expands to 7.6-inches with a 128.1mm width. It also weighs 271g, making it lighter than the Z Fold 2. Samsung is also utilizing a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The device also features the first-ever under-display camera on a Galaxy smartphone. On the rear, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 supports 12mp with an ultra-wide, wide, and telephoto lens. The cover sports a 10mp camera.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 will start at $2,269.99 CAD and be available on August 27th. Samsung will also offer the device in Phantom Black, Phantom Green, and Phantom Silver

On the Galaxy Z Flip 3 side of things, Samsung has designed the device to be compact and made it easier to take selfies. The cover screen of the Z Flip 3 is larger, with more functionality than previous Z Flip devices. When closed, the Z Flip 3 is sized at 72.2mm x 86.4mm. When opened, the Z Flip 3 offers a 6.7-inch Infinity Flex Display, with a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 boasts a 12mp camera with an ultra-wide and wide-angle lens on the cover/rear. The front-facing hole-punch camera is 10mp.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 will be available on August 27th and will start at $1,259.99 CAD. It will also be available in four colour options; Cream, Phantom Black, Green, and Lavender. Samsung will also offer white, pink, and gray as exclusive colour options to the website.

The Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic were also announced by Samsung today. Samsung notes that every element of its smartwatch has been revamped from the inside and out, including the OS and UX. Samsung has gone with a minimalist design for the Galaxy Watch 4. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic has a more conventional design with a rotating bezel. The Galaxy Watch4 series offers the One UI Watch, which enables users to customize the face of their smartwatch to look similar to their Galaxy smartphone for a more uniform experience.

The Galaxy Watch Series offers the first 5nm processor in a Galaxy Watch, offering 20 percent fast CPU and 50 percent more RAM. Samsung has also implemented a higher resolution display. Plus the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic have 16GB of memory. Samsung has said the new smartwatches can offer up to 40 hours of battery life. LTE connectivity will also be offered on certain models thanks to the eSIM technology utilized.

Both smartwatch models offer blood pressure and ECG monitoring. Additionally, the company has announced the Samsung BioActive Sensor, a 3-in-1 sensor that encompasses an Optical Heart Rate Sensor (PPG), Electrical Heart Sensor (ECG), and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis Sensor (BIA). The Galaxy Watch 4 series will also offer a new Body Composition analysis tool for users to check body composition, capturing 2,400 data points with 98 percent accuracy.

Galaxy Watch 4 will start at $329.99 CAD. Galaxy Watch 4 Classic starts at $459.99 CAD. Both will be made available on August 27th.

Finally, Galaxy Buds 2 was also revealed by Samsung. The new models offer a dynamic two-way speaker, supporting a woofer and tweeter high notes and deep bass. Up to 98 percent of background noise can be cut out with the active noise cancellation feature. Three levels of ambient sound will also be available. Samsung notes that thanks to a new machine learning-based solution, phone call clarity has been maximized in a variety of environments.

The Galaxy Buds 2 sports three microphones and a voice pickup unit. They are designed to be the smallest and lightest models in the Galaxy Buds series. Samsung promises comfort as they have been designed to be worn all day while supporting a snug fit for the user. With active noise cancellation on, the Galaxy Buds 2 provides up to five hours of playtime. Up to 20 hours of playtime can be provided when charged in the case.

Galaxy Buds 2 will be available in four colours, including White, Graphite, Olive, and Lavender. The new earbuds will be available on August 27th for $189.99 CAD
