What will be included in the next-generation Apple Watch Series 7? Bloomberg’s reliable Mark Gurman has detailed apparent specs and features in a new report.
According to the report, Apple Watch Series 7 will have larger vertical screen sizes of 41mm and 45mm, slightly larger than the current 40mm and 44mm offerings. Diagonally, displays will grow to to 1.78 and 1.9 inches, while display resolutions will increase as well.
The larger 45mm Apple Watch Series 7 will have a resolution of 396 x 484 (up from 368 x 448), an increase of 16%, which is said to allow Apple to show more watch face complications, or tiny customizable information widgets.
The resolution of the new 41mm Apple Watch Series 7 will also increase, with both new models also said to have thinner bezels around displays, with the latter seeing a new lamination technique to bring displays closer to the cover glass.
Apple will also include new watch faces to take advantage of larger displays, note unnamed sources, with the new Series 7 models possibly debuting in September.
According to Gurman, a new watch face named ‘Modular Max’, “will show the time digitally alongside one small complication — showing information like the day of the week, outside temperature or quick access to an app — with larger complications that span the length of the screen stacked on top of each other below.”

Another watch face named ‘Continuum’ will also change based on the current hour and flow of time. The so-called ‘Atlas and World Timer’ will let wearers see all 24 time zones at the same time, mimicking watch faces from high-end watches from Patek Philippe, for example.
Nike and Hermes Apple Watch Series 7 versions will also get new faces, reports Bloomberg. A new watch face for Hermes will see numbers change hourly, while Nike’s next watch face will see numbers move based on the wearer’s motion.
As for other features in Apple Watch Series 7? Gurman says a processor upgrade is in the works, plus the watch case design will see flatter edges.
For 2022, Apple Watch will also see more changes and health features, along with a rugged version of the Apple Watch SE, while a body temperature sensor is also in the works.
Apple also is working on noninvasive blood-sugar monitor and blood-pressure monitoring for Apple Watch in the future.
The last time Apple Watch saw increased display sizes was with the debut of its Series 4 lineup in 2018, when sizes moved up to 40mm and 44mm (up from 38mm and 42mm).
These new features in Apple Watch Series 7 have also resulted in apparent production delays for the wearable, as the company and suppliers work to accommodate the changes and new design.
