Apple’s Stocks app is pretty basic and if you’re looking for a far better app with more controls and push alerts, Yahoo Finance is an excellent one for iPhone and iPad.

In a recent update this week, Yahoo announced its Finance app is now available for M1-powered Macs. This brings the iPad version of the Yahoo Finance app to Mac computers powered by M1.

Here’s what new in this Yahoo Finance update:

  • Supports multitasking and multiple app windows with drag-and-drop simplicity.
  • The tab bar has been replaced by the new and improved sidebar to make navigation more intuitive and enable quick access to key parts of the app.
  • You can also hide the sidebar to create more room for the financial content you care about.
  • The quote view has been refreshed to make the information more accessible, digestible, and easier to dive into.

Yahoo says for iPad users, the hide side bar and quote view features will be coming to their devices “soon”.

Once you download and install the Yahoo Finance on your M1 Mac, just sign in with your Yahoo account and all your investments will be there. You’ll now have full functionality of the app from your Mac including setting up price alerts, without needing to grab your iPhone or iPad. Fonts are too small but so far this is a great start.
