Apple Awards 15 of the Best Apps and Games its ‘App Store Award’ for 2021

Today, Apple has awarded 15 apps and games on the App Store its ‘App Store Award’ for its quality, cultural impact, innovations, and design. The selection has been chosen by Apple’s global App Store editorial team, who chose apps and games made by developers around the world.

“The developers who won App Store Awards in 2021 harnessed their own drive and vision to deliver the best apps and games of the year — sparking the creativity and passion of millions of users around the world,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “From self-taught indie coders to inspiring leaders building global businesses, these standout developers innovated with Apple technology, with many helping to foster the profound sense of togetherness we needed this year.”

Kicking things off, ‘Toca Life World‘ from Toca Boca was awarded ‘iPhone App of the Year’. The app is designed to enable children to create unique worlds and bring them to life to spark their imagination. ‘LumaFusion‘ from LumaTouch was awarded ‘iPad App of the Year’. LumaFusion is a popular video editing software, used by many creators.

Additionally, ‘Craft‘ from Luki Labs Limited, the doc and notes editor, was awarded ‘Mac App of the Year.’ Sports streaming service ‘DAZN‘ from DAZN Group was given ‘Apple TV App of the Year’ while Grailr’s ‘Carrot Weather‘ was recognized as ‘Apple Watch App of the Year.’

For games, ‘ League of Legends: Wild Rift‘ won ‘iPhone Game of the Year’ and ‘MARVEL Future Revolutionwas awarded ‘iPad Game of the Year.’ Cyan’s ‘Myst‘ won ‘Mac Game of the Year’ and ‘Space Marshals 3‘ from Pixelbite was recognized as ‘Apple TV Game of the Year.’ Plus, Apple handed out the ‘Apple Arcade Game of the Year’ to ‘Fantasian‘ from Mistwalker.

Finally, Apple stated that the app and game trend of 2021 was ‘Connection.’ As such, the company awarded ‘Among Us!,’ ‘Bumble,’ ‘Canva,’ ‘EatOkra,’ and ‘Peanut‘ for the ways they helped users interact and stay connected throughout the year.

Each of the aforementioned winners will receive a physical App Store award. The design will be inspired by the signature blue App Store icon, with the App Store logo set into the 100 percent recycled aluminum used to make Apple products. The name of the winner will also be engraved on the other side.
