Native Apple Music App Released in macOS 12.2 Beta for Developers

CleanShot 2021 12 16 at 15 01 17 2x

Apple released macOS 12.2 beta, build 21D5025f, for developers on Thursday.

As for what’s new in macOS 12.2 beta? According to 9to5Mac, the latest release includes a native Apple Music app, built on AppKit, no longer using web views, as detailed by @lumingyin:

This means the Apple Music app will feel like a native app and not like before, which was slow and laggy and just generally something that belonged in a dumpster fire.

Also new is smoother scrolling in Safari on the newest MacBook Pro with ProMotion; previously, refresh rates were capped in the browser and not running at its full potential of 120 Hz, resulting in laggy web scrolling.

As more developers dive into macOS 12.2 beta, stay tuned for a full recap of what’s new soon.
