Codenamed N301, Apple will be announcing its highly anticipated mixed-reality headset in 2022, said Gurman. He continued that Apple’s VR/AR headset software will be called ‘rOS’ and will be codenamed ‘Oak’.

“But the timeline for that product has slipped before. Apple originally targeted 2020, and then WWDC 2021 and then WWDC 2022 for a debut. Stay tuned,” he wrote.

Gurman also said that he plans to share more news about iOS 16, codenamed ‘Sydney,’ and macOS 13, codenamed ‘Rome,’ and other software updates in the coming months.
